About Royal Blue Golf Club
Royal Blue Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 course at the Baha Mar resort in Nassau, on New Providence island. Jack Nicklaus designed it, and it is built as two distinct nines. The front plays on flatter ground nearer the ocean, with mounding and views toward the water. The back nine moves into limestone terrain with real elevation change, so the second half of the round feels different from the first. The course is open to the public as well as resort guests.
- Tee markers move every day, so the same hole can play from a different spot and distance from one round to the next.
- Water comes into play on eight of the nine holes on the front nine, which is the flatter side.
- Royal Blue was the first Nicklaus layout in the Bahamas.
- The facilities include a driving range, a restaurant, rental clubs and lessons, so visitors can arrive without their own bags.
History of Royal Blue Golf Club
Royal Blue opened in 2017. Part of the course sits on land that belonged to the former Cable Beach Golf Club, so golf has been played on this stretch of New Providence before the current layout.
Signature holes at Royal Blue Golf Club
The 16th is a downhill par 3 of 165 yards, with Lake Cunningham protecting the green. It arrives on the limestone back nine, so the water makes a sharp change of scene late in the round.
When to play Royal Blue Golf Club
The Bahamas has a warm subtropical climate. Winter and spring bring the most comfortable temperatures for golf, while summer is hot and humid with passing showers. Mornings are the coolest time to play in the warmer months.
Playing Royal Blue Golf Club: tips
