Best Golf Courses in Canada

25 ranked courses in Canada

Canada has 25 courses in this guide, spread across five provinces: Ontario holds 12, Alberta four, and Nova Scotia, British Columbia and Québec three each. Eighteen are parkland, three are mountain courses, three are coastal and one is a links. Seventeen are private clubs, which leaves eight that visitors can play. The four resort courses come in pairs. In Inverness, Nova Scotia, Cabot Links is Rod Whitman's 2012 links and Cabot Cliffs is Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's 2015 coastal course beside it. In the Alberta Rockies, Stanley Thompson built both the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Golf Course, opened in 1925, and the Fairmont Banff Springs Golf Course (Stanley Thompson 18), opened in 1928. Thompson also designed Cape Breton Highlands Links at Ingonish Beach, a public course from 1941. Sagebrush Golf Club at Quilchena, British Columbia, a Rod Whitman mountain layout, is the other public course. Muskoka Bay Resort in Gravenhurst, Ontario, a Doug Carrick design, and Club de golf Grand-Mère in Shawinigan, Québec, dating from 1910, are semi-private. The private clubs carry much of the country's championship history: Hamilton Golf & Country Club in Ancaster has hosted seven Canadian Opens, Toronto Golf Club five, and Mount Bruno Country Club staged the event in 1922 and 1924. Victoria Golf Club, from 1893, has the earliest opening date in the group.

About Golf Courses in Canada

Cape Breton is one trip: Cabot Links and Cabot Cliffs share Inverness, and Ingonish Beach is on the same island. Banff and Jasper pair in the Rockies. Toronto anchors most of Ontario's 12, with Muskoka a separate trip. Victoria, West Vancouver and Quilchena make a British Columbia trip, while Québec's three sit in Magog, Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville and Shawinigan. Blackhawk in Spruce Grove and the Calgary club are city stops in Alberta.
