About Sagebrush Golf Club

Sagebrush Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 course at Quilchena, British Columbia, built on a hillside above Nicola Lake. Rod Whitman is the lead architect, and the design is a minimalist, links-inspired layout with wide fairways, large greens and bunkers cut into the slopes. It occupies ranch land in the Nicola Valley and has been ranked first among public courses in British Columbia by SCOREGolf.

  • SCOREGolf gave Sagebrush its Best New Course award in 2009.
  • Eight on-site suites let golfers stay at the course.
  • The Hideout is a lakeside snack shack where players can stop mid-round and fish.
  • Fescue-lined fairways and waste bunkers define the playing corridors, with sagebrush on the property.

History of Sagebrush Golf Club

Richard Zokol worked with Whitman and the agronomist Armen Suny on the course. The course closed for several years. It has since reopened to the public, with accommodation and a ranch-style restaurant.

Signature holes at Sagebrush Golf Club

The par-4 2nd is a downhill hole that finishes at an infinity green.

Playing Sagebrush Golf Club: tips

Daily tee times are limited and spaced widely, so book ahead rather than turning up. The Ranch House restaurant serves meals on the property, and stay-and-play guests can use the eight suites. Merritt is the closest town. Expect hills and elevation change, and plan your pace around them.
