About The San Roque Club
The San Roque Club's Old Course is a par 72 parkland layout designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1990, near Gibraltar in Cádiz province. Cork oaks line many fairways, which are tight and sloping, and the greens are small. Seve Ballesteros redesigned the bunkering after the original construction, and water comes into play on several holes. The club presents the Old Course as its pride.
- The Old Course hosted the Spanish Open in 2005, after Ballesteros's bunker revisions.
- It was a venue for the European Tour Qualifying School.
- Valderrama, La Reserva, Almenara and Alcaidesa are nearby clubs.
- Course management matters more than distance, and the greens are small.
