About Real Golf de Pedreña
Real Golf de Pedreña is a par 70 course in Cantabria, set on the Bay of Santander and designed by Harry Colt. Pine woods and centuries-old trees frame the fairways, and many holes look out over the bay and the Cubas estuary. The club has an 18-hole championship course and a separate nine-hole course, and it sits in the village of Pedreña, which is best known as the birthplace of Seve Ballesteros.
- Seven of the nine holes Ballesteros designed run along the banks of the Cubas estuary.
- His uncle Ramón Sota also began as a caddie here and went on to win the 1963 Spanish Open.
- The par-4 8th is the hole most often singled out, with a carry over the Cubas that changes the view with the tide.
- Sota later opened a nine-hole course and a golf academy at Agüero, a short way from the club.
History of Real Golf de Pedreña
The club opened in 1928 with an 18-hole course by Harry Colt. Ballesteros was born in the village and learned the game on the beaches nearby. His father worked as the club's gardener, and Seve started as a caddie here at the age of nine. In the early 1990s he came back as an honorary member to design a nine-hole course.
