About Real Club de Golf Las Brisas

Real Club de Golf Las Brisas is a parkland course on the Costa del Sol at Marbella. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed it, and it opened in 1968 as Club de Golf Nueva Andalucía. Ten artificial lakes run through the layout, and most greens sit on raised pads ringed by bunkers, so approach shots carry the risk. English landscaper Gerald Huggan planted the grounds as an arboretum with species from every continent. Kyle Phillips later reworked the course as a tribute to Trent Jones's original design.

  • The 1989 World Cup was shortened to 36 holes; Fowler and Grady won, with Cañizares and Olazábal second.
  • In November 2023 the Ladies European Tour held the Open de España here, won by Aditi Ashok at 17 under.
  • The arboretum planting includes African acacias, Asian laurels and American and Australian species alongside Mediterranean trees.
  • Las Brisas is regularly ranked among the top ten courses in Spain.

History of Real Club de Golf Las Brisas

José Banús founded the club in 1968, and King Juan Carlos I later granted the Real title that gives it its present name. Within five years it was a world stage: the 1973 World Cup was played here, with Nicklaus and Miller winning. The World Cup returned in 1989.
