Heritage Golf Club at Bel Ombre, in Savanne, Mauritius, offers 45 holes across two courses, and La Réserve Golf Links leads the page. It is an 18-hole par 72 laid out in the links tradition, with running fairways, pot bunkers and long native grasses. The Indian Ocean stays in view on every hole. Le Château, the club's other course, rounds out the 45-hole offering.
- La Réserve ranks 28th in Golfweek's 2026 list of the best international courses outside the United States, and first in Africa.
- The World Golf Awards named it the Indian Ocean's Best Golf Course for 2025.
- The course holds GEO Certified development status.
- Le Château has also hosted the Mauritius Open, a DP World Tour event, in earlier editions.
History of Heritage Golf Club
La Réserve Golf Links opened in December 2023 as the first contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean. Louis Oosthuizen and Peter Matkovich co-designed it, working beside a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Oosthuizen won the 2023 AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open on the DP World Tour at 17 under par on his own design.
Playing Heritage Golf Club: tips
La Réserve is reserved for Heritage Golf Club members and guests of Heritage Resorts and Villas, so a stay at Heritage Le Telfair or Heritage Awali is the usual way in. Arrange the stay and the tee times together, and confirm with the club which of the two courses your booking covers before you travel.
