Best Golf Courses in South Carolina
10 ranked courses in South Carolina
South Carolina has ten courses in this guide, and three of them can be booked: two resort courses and one semi-private. The Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Pete and Alice Dye's 1991 coastal course, ranks highest in the state and has hosted the Ryder Cup and the PGA Championship; it is open to the public and tee times can be booked without staying at the resort, though resort guests receive discounted rates. Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island is Pete Dye's 1969 parkland course, with Jack Nicklaus as design consultant; anyone can book online or by phone, and resort guests get priority windows and package pricing. Aiken Golf Club in Aiken, opened in 1912, is privately owned and open to public play; reservations are required and players may walk or ride. The other seven are private. Old Barnwell in Aiken, a links by Brian Schneider and Blake Conant opened in 2023, offers limited public access, including public play around Masters week. Yeamans Hall Club in Hanahan is a 1925 Seth Raynor course, and Congaree in Ridgeland, a Tom Fazio design, has no traditional members and invites ambassadors who support its foundation. The Tree Farm in Batesburg, also from 2023, is a destination club with cabins on site, and Secession in Beaufort is private too.
