About The Tree Farm

The Tree Farm is a private destination golf club at Batesburg, South Carolina, just outside Aiken, founded by PGA Tour player Zac Blair. Tom Doak routed the 18 holes and Kye Goalby built them, working for Blair. Preview play began in 2023, and the course opened the same year. The club is aimed at walkers who play quickly, and the atmosphere is meant to feel closer to a buddies trip than to a formal country club.

  • The course includes a par 3 built on the redan template, so visitors can expect a classic hole type.
  • The 16th has a large punchbowl green, a putting surface that shapes the approach.
  • The finishing hole is a short par 4 that can be driven, so the round closes with a birdie chance.
  • Overnight guests stay in cabins set among the trees near the 3rd and 18th holes.

History of The Tree Farm

Blair built the club around the style of golf he prefers: the width and playability of the Golden Age clubs in a relaxed setting.

Signature holes at The Tree Farm

The 13th is a par 5 that curls around in a U shape. Late in the round the 17th is a par 3 that offers a scoring chance.

When to play The Tree Farm

The Tree Farm is private, so your date depends on a member or on the club's own invitation process. South Carolina summers are hot and humid, so spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons for a walking round.

Playing The Tree Farm: tips

There is no public tee sheet or published green fee, so a visit starts with a member or the club's invitation. Ask your host about arrival time and the rest of the day.
