About Sage Valley Golf Club

Sage Valley Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 course at Graniteville, South Carolina, just northeast of Augusta, Georgia. Tom Fazio designed it, and it opened in 2001 for founder Weldon Wyatt, a real estate developer who set out to build it in the mold of Augusta National. The routing winds through rolling terrain on a 500-acre site that was once timber company land, among tall pines, with water in play and plenty of azaleas and other flowering shrubs. Fairways are generous, and greens are fast and undulating, so the score depends on how well you approach them.

  • Holes are named for plants and flowers, another nod to Augusta National.
  • The Junior Invitational, held each March over 72 holes, invites 36 boys and 24 girls.
  • Lodging on the property includes clubhouse suites and cottages, so members and guests can stay on site.
  • Caddies are available for every round on the main course.

History of Sage Valley Golf Club

Sage Valley opened in 2001 with Tom Fazio as architect. Weldon Wyatt, the real estate developer behind the club, built it deliberately in the Augusta National mold. The club created the Junior Invitational in 2011, and the girls' division was added in 2022. The event has since drawn some of the best junior golfers in the world to the course each spring.

Signature holes at Sage Valley Golf Club

The par-3 2nd is the hole most visitors remember, a one-shot hole played over water to a peninsula green. Later in the round the 8th is a long uphill par 5, one of the course's four three-shot holes.
