About Shadow Creek
Shadow Creek is an 18-hole, par 72 course in North Las Vegas, Nevada, designed by Tom Fazio and owned by MGM Resorts International. It is a built landscape in the most literal sense. The land was flat desert before construction, and the finished course has creeks, lakes and waterfalls running through tree-lined corridors that hide each hole from the next. Casino developer Steve Wynn commissioned it, and the contrast with the surrounding desert is the point of the place. Players reach it through MGM Resorts hotel arrangements rather than a public tee sheet, and its green fee has been reported at very different levels over time, so confirm current terms with the resort before you plan a trip around it.
- Fazio led a redesign in 2008, after the course had passed into MGM Resorts ownership.
- The Match, a made-for-television contest between Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, was played here in 2018.
- Professional golf has visited more than once, with PGA Tour events played here as well as The Match.
- The site is bermed around its perimeter, which screens the holes from the surrounding area.
History of Shadow Creek
Steve Wynn commissioned Shadow Creek and brought in Tom Fazio to build it on bare desert. It was originally operated as Wynn's private club, known for its exclusivity, and was later opened to a limited number of MGM hotel guests once ownership changed. The 2008 redesign came after that change of ownership. Through all of it, the course has stayed a secluded, heavily planted layout in arid country.
Signature holes at Shadow Creek
Reviewers describe the routing as a series of self-contained holes, each set off by trees and berms, with streams or lakes in play on many of them. The 4th is a par 5 that draws particular attention, and the waterfalls along the way give the round a constant visual thread.
When to play Shadow Creek
Shadow Creek is reached through MGM Resorts, so the practical question is when a tee time comes with your stay. Ask the resort which dates are open and what the booking includes before you fix travel plans. The course sits on land that was desert before it was built, so heat is worth planning around.
Playing Shadow Creek: tips
Book through MGM Resorts as a hotel guest, because the course does not run a normal public tee sheet. Green fees reported by different publications range from $500 in older coverage to $1,250 in a recent listing, so ask for the current price when you book. Confirm transport, dress and caddie arrangements with the resort at the same time.
