About Jumeirah Golf Estates

The Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates is a par 72 championship layout in Dubai, designed by Greg Norman. It shares the estate with the Fire Course, the second of two 18-hole courses there. Bright white bunker sand and deep red wood chips lining the holes stand out sharply against the desert setting, and the course was built with championship golf in mind.

  • The layout holds 102 bunkers and measures more than 7,600 yards from the championship tees.
  • Matt Fitzpatrick won the 2025 DP World Tour Championship here, beating Rory McIlroy in a playoff.
  • Rory McIlroy took the 2024 edition on 15 under par, two strokes clear of Rasmus Højgaard.
  • A ten-year agreement keeps the season-ending championship on the Earth Course through 2031.

History of Jumeirah Golf Estates

Greg Norman designed the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates, and it opened in 2009. It was created to host the first season-ending tournament, and the same event now runs as the DP World Tour Championship, the closing event of the Race to Dubai.

Signature holes at Jumeirah Golf Estates

The 18th is a par 5 of about 650 yards, and a stream, sometimes called a wadi, runs along its length. The closing hole rewards a clear plan.

When to play Jumeirah Golf Estates

Dubai summers are very hot, so the cooler months from late autumn through winter are the comfortable time to play. The DP World Tour Championship is held in mid-November, so book travel and tickets early.

Playing Jumeirah Golf Estates: tips

Two 18-hole courses share the estate, so confirm whether a tee time is for the Earth Course or the Fire Course when you book.

Frequently Asked Questions about Jumeirah Golf Estates

What is the other course at Jumeirah Golf Estates?

The Fire Course is the estate's second 18-hole layout, also a par 72, at about 7,480 yards.

How do I watch the DP World Tour Championship?

Tickets and viewing details come from the tour rather than the estate, so check the tour's schedule and ticketing before planning a trip around the event.

Which tees suit an average golfer?

The Earth Course is the longer of the two courses, so consider a shorter set of tees if distance is a concern, since the bunkering punishes loose shots.
