About Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club
Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club is a 27-hole public facility in Sandia Park, New Mexico, on the east side of the Sandia Mountains. Ken Dye designed it as three nines that can be combined into several 18-hole loops. The ground sits at roughly 6,500 to 7,000 feet, with rock outcroppings, native grasses and a cover of piñon and juniper, and the holes climb and drop through big elevation changes. Kentucky bluegrass fairways and bentgrass greens give it a manicured finish against the high-desert setting.
- Paa-Ko Ridge appears on national lists of the best public courses in the United States.
- Greens are wide and deep, and many are tiered or split by ridges.
- Named the best new course to open in 2000, the year its first 18 holes were completed.
- Practice facilities include a driving range, putting green, chipping area and practice bunker.
History of Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club
Ken Dye's original 18 holes opened in 2000. A third nine followed in 2005, which turned the layout into the 27-hole facility golfers play today and allowed several different 18-hole routings across the property.
Signature holes at Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club
The 17th is the hole most often picked out. It sits on top of a butte and gives wide views over the surrounding country.
When to play Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club
Spring and autumn are the most comfortable seasons here. The altitude keeps summer rounds cooler than down in Albuquerque, while winter weather at this height can interrupt play, so check conditions before you travel.
Playing Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club: tips
Paa-Ko Ridge is open to the public, so anyone can book a tee time. Ask which two of the three nines make up your round, and allow extra time for the elevation changes. Albuquerque International Sunport is the main airport for visitors.
