About Scottsdale National Golf Club — The Other Course
Scottsdale National Golf Club is a 45-hole club in Scottsdale, Arizona, and The Other Course is its links-style 18. Tim Jackson and David Kahn of Jackson Kahn Design laid it out as a par 72, and it sits alongside the club's other layouts on one desert property. The fairways are wide, which invites aggressive tee shots, but the greens are large and contoured enough to punish approaches that finish in the wrong part of the surface. Despite the casual name, the course has a reputation as a challenging round.
- The routing has six par 3s, six par 4s and six par 5s, an unusual mix for an 18-hole course.
- The Bad Little Nine, an all-par-3 short course, opened alongside it and measures just 972 yards in total.
- The club has a large practice facility, including a driving range, for warming up before a round.
- A restaurant and bar are on site, so a round with your host can be followed by a meal.
History of Scottsdale National Golf Club — The Other Course
Scottsdale National began as a single course and changed hands in 2013. The new owner added a second 18 and a short course, both built by Jackson Kahn Design. The Other Course and the Bad Little Nine opened in the fall of 2016.
Signature holes at Scottsdale National Golf Club — The Other Course
No single hole defines The Other Course. Views of Sonoran Desert scenery open up from points across the property, and the desert setting is as much a part of the round as any one green or tee.
When to play Scottsdale National Golf Club — The Other Course
The Other Course cannot be booked, so your date depends on a member or on acceptance into the club's visitor program. Members play without tee times, so ask your host how busy the course is on your chosen day. Arizona summers are hot, which is worth weighing when you pick a date.
