About Österåkers Golfklubb

Österåkers Golfklubb, in Åkersberga north of Stockholm, is led by its Öster course, an 18-hole, par 72 layout in the American parkland style. Henrik Stenson and architect Christian Lundin rebuilt it from the club's original East course, and it opened to players in August 2019 on about 70 hectares. The design is built around wide fairways, white-sand bunkers, large water hazards and undulating greens.

  • The course was officially opened on September 15, 2019, and it was Stenson's first course design.
  • Roughly 600,000 cubic meters of fill went into shaping the course.
  • Several sets of tees let players of different standards play the same holes at lengths that suit them.
  • A practice range, a pro shop and a restaurant are on site next to the courses.

History of Österåkers Golfklubb

Österåkers Golfklubb dates to 1988. When the club decided to modernize, it used the proceeds from selling development rights for new housing next to the courses to fund a rebuild of both 18-hole layouts. Stenson and Lundin started with the East course, which had been known as Österled, and the finished Öster by Stenson replaced it. The club's other 18-hole course, Västerled, is next in line for the same treatment.
