About Falsterbo Golfklubb
Falsterbo Golfklubb is an 18-hole, par 71 links in Skåne, on a peninsula where the Öresund meets the Baltic Sea. The sea surrounds the course on three sides, and the ground is flat and exposed to the wind, which is a constant factor. Natural dunes, firm greens and unpredictable lies give it a character that is rare in Sweden. The club dates to 1909.
- The peninsula lies on one of Europe's major bird migration routes.
- The European Tour came to Falsterbo for the PLM Open in 1986.
- Marsh areas and a modest dune ridge shape the layout on otherwise flat ground.
- The Falsterbo lighthouse stands right beside the course.
History of Falsterbo Golfklubb
The first course had nine holes and was laid out by Robert Turnbull, the professional at Copenhagen Golf Club, beside the Falsterbo lighthouse. In 1930 Gunnar Bauer extended it to 18 holes and kept only a few of Turnbull's holes. Peter Nordwall and Peter Chamberlain updated the course around the turn of the millennium.
