About Golden Horseshoe Golf Club — Gold Course
The Gold Course at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 71 resort course in Williamsburg, Virginia, owned by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation. Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed it, and it is a tree-lined layout across gently rolling ground, with tiered greens, flowing fairways and water in play. Four par 3s, the 3rd, 7th, 12th and 16th, are the part of the course people remember.
- The NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championship was played on the Gold Course in 2007.
- The July 2017 reopening rebuilt the bunkers with the Better Billy Bunker system, added nine forward tees and rebuilt four green complexes.
- The same project expanded the practice putting green and added a short-game practice area.
- Rees Jones carried out an earlier renovation in 1998, before returning with Greg Muirhead for the 2016-17 work.
