About Cabo del Sol

Cabo del Sol is a community on the Sea of Cortez coast, and its Cove Club course is a Jack Nicklaus design. The 18-hole layout blends mountain, desert and coastal ground across a property of about 1,800 acres. That mix of terrain means a single round passes through three landscapes. The course carries the Cove Club name, and it is part of a private beach and golf community.

  • Nicklaus created several new holes when the course was rerouted for the Cove Club, reshaping part of the original layout.
  • Tom Weiskopf designed the original Desert Course, now called the Cabo Del Sol Course, which Fry and Straka redesigned.
  • A Four Seasons resort and residences share the community with the Cove Club, so the golf sits inside a wider resort setting.
  • The Cove Club has its own beach club, giving members and guests beach access.

History of Cabo del Sol

Jack Nicklaus designed the course that opened in 1994 as the Ocean Course. It became the Cove Club after the layout was reworked as part of a private beach and residential club, with Nicklaus adding new holes during the rerouting. Tom Weiskopf's Desert Course was the community's other course, and it later became the Cabo Del Sol Course under a Fry and Straka redesign. The two courses now serve different audiences, with the Nicklaus layout kept for members and their guests.
