About Yale Golf Course
Yale Golf Course is a par 70, 18-hole course in New Haven, Connecticut, designed by Charles Blair Macdonald and Seth Raynor and opened in 1926. It reopened on April 28, 2026, after a $25 million restoration by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner and now plays to more than 7,000 yards from the back tees. The greens average about 14,000 square feet, and Yale runs the course as a public, daily-fee operation.
- The ninth is the Biarritz, a par 3 with a green of about 22,000 square feet, far larger than average.
- The Double Punch Bowl green on the third was rebuilt to its original 1926 design as part of the restoration.
- Two rare inverted bunkers on the sixth hole were restored.
- The eighteenth is a 611-yard par 5, and it shares a double fairway with the third.
History of Yale Golf Course
Macdonald and Raynor built the Yale course in the mid-1920s. The restoration closed it for work, put greens, tees, bunkers and fairways back to their historic dimensions, and rebuilt the greens to USGA specifications.

When to play Yale Golf Course
Connecticut winters are cold, so the main golf season runs from spring through fall. Book as soon as your booking window opens, since the course has only just reopened after its restoration.
