About St. Louis Country Club
St. Louis Country Club is a private 18-hole, par 71 course in Ladue, Missouri, laid out by Charles Blair Macdonald with Seth Raynor working alongside him. Of all the courses Macdonald designed, it sits furthest west. The club began in 1892 as a polo club and moved to its present Ladue site in 1914, when the golf course was built. Fairways and greens are bentgrass. The club has since hosted a U.S. Open, several national amateur championships and a Curtis Cup.
- Lew Worsham won the 1947 U.S. Open here, beating Sam Snead in a playoff.
- Deane Beman won the 1960 U.S. Amateur here, and Mary Budke took the 1972 U.S. Women's Amateur.
- The United States team won the 2014 Curtis Cup when the match was played at the club.
- The club also hosted the 1921 U.S. Amateur and the 1925 U.S. Women's Amateur.
History of St. Louis Country Club
The layout was altered after the original build, and Brian Silva was brought in to restore what Macdonald had intended.
