About Springfield Country Club
Springfield Country Club is an 18-hole course in Springfield, Ohio, laid out by Donald Ross. Tournament golfers know it mainly through U.S. Open qualifying: in 2025 it was one of the Final Qualifying sites for the U.S. Open at Oakmont. Its standing in Ohio golf rests on the Ross design and the championships it has hosted.
- Grant Haefner won the 2025 qualifying here at 7 under, two shots clear of the rest, to earn a place at Oakmont.
- Maxwell Moldovan and Zac Blair also qualified here in 2025, Blair by winning a four-way playoff on the fourth extra hole.
- The 2017 Ohio Amateur Championship was played at Springfield.
- A driving range, teaching professional and motor carts are all part of the club's golf operation.
History of Springfield Country Club
Springfield Country Club was founded in 1898. The course played today is the Donald Ross design that was completed in 1922. Greens and bunkers were renovated in the early 2010s by Forse Design, the restoration firm of Ron Forse and Jim Nagle, whose work here covered a master plan, restoration and green rebuilding.
When to play Springfield Country Club
