About Golf de Saint-Germain
Golf de Saint-Germain lies in the forest of Saint-Germain, west of Paris, and its Grand Parcours is a par-72 parkland course designed by Harry Colt. Mature trees frame the fairways, and the strategy is built through bunkering and raised greens. The course rewards accurate shot-making more than power.
- French Open champions here included Sandy Lyle and Seve Ballesteros.
- The course has 116 bunkers, and bunkering is central to its strategy.
- A railway line runs through the property, and the routing crosses it.
- The European Ladies' Team Championship was played at the club in 1999.
History of Golf de Saint-Germain
The course opened in 1922. The French Open came to Saint-Germain nine times between 1927 and 1985.
Signature holes at Golf de Saint-Germain
The par 3s are the outstanding holes on the course. The 5th is a mid-length par 3 built on flat ground, while the 7th is played to a raised green. Greens at several other holes are also elevated.
