About Golf de Chantilly
Golf de Chantilly is a 36-hole private club at Vineuil-Saint-Firmin in the Oise, set within the Forêt de Chantilly. The Vineuil course is a Tom Simpson design. Its bunkering is rugged and well placed, and the greens are quick and strongly contoured, with humps and run-offs around the edges. The terrain is flat for much of the round, then closes in a wooded valley and ravine.
- Les Longères, the club's second 18-hole course, is a par 73.
- Donald Steel later added three new holes to the Vineuil course.
- Chantilly is regularly rated among the finest courses in continental Europe.
- The Château de Chantilly is close to the club.
History of Golf de Chantilly
The club was inaugurated in 1909, and Tom Simpson's 18-hole Vineuil course dates to 1920. The French Open was held here on multiple occasions, and Nick Faldo won it twice.
Signature holes at Golf de Chantilly
The finish is what most visitors remember from Vineuil. The 16th crosses a ravine, and the 17th is a downhill par 3 that plays into a wooded valley.
