About Golf de Fontainebleau
Golf de Fontainebleau is a par-72 parkland course on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest, in Seine-et-Marne. Its fairways are narrow and lined with trees, and the layout rewards accurate driving over raw length. The course is set in the forest, and the club counts among the older ones in France.
- More than 100 bunkers are spread across the course, which makes position off the tee important.
- Rocky outcrops and heather sit close to the fairways.
- The sandy soil drains well, so the course is playable year-round.
- Golf magazines named it the best course in France in 2001.
History of Golf de Fontainebleau
The club was inaugurated in 1909. Tom Simpson redesigned the course in 1920, and Fred Hawtree lengthened it in the 1960s.
