About Reykjavik Golf Club
Reykjavik Golf Club's Korpa course at Korpúlfsstaðir has 27 holes, laid out within the residential area of Grafarvogur. The holes are split into three nines named Sjóinn (the Sea), Áin (the River) and Landið (the Land), and the club rotates the combinations from day to day so that golfers play 18 or nine holes in different arrangements. An 18-hole round plays to par 72.
- Grafarholt, the club's other 18-hole course, opened in 1963, was designed by Nils Sköld, and is the oldest 18-hole course in Iceland.
- One nine runs along the Atlantic coast with views of Mount Esja and is links-style.
- The other nine plays inland beside the Korpa river.
- Summer rounds are possible far into the evening, since the sun barely sets in June and July.
History of Reykjavik Golf Club
Reykjavik Golf Club was established in 1934 as Golfklúbbur Íslands. It is the oldest and largest golf club in Iceland. The Korpa course went in on a site that had held a small 12-hole layout, with the first nine holes opening in the summer of 1996 and the full course in 1997.
When to play Reykjavik Golf Club
June and July bring near-constant daylight in Iceland, which is when evening and late-night rounds are possible.
