Best Golf Courses in Iceland
4 ranked courses in Iceland
Iceland has four courses in this guide, all semi-private clubs that take visitors, and three of them are coastal. Lava shapes the golf here. Keilir in Hafnarfjörður, founded in 1967 on the Hvaleyri peninsula, has a par-71 course whose front nine runs through a lava field and whose back nine moves onto former farmland beside the sea; visitors reserve by phone or email. Oddur plays over Urriðavöllur in Garðabær, a par-71 heath-and-lava course beside the Heiðmörk conservation area, on lava flows from the Búrfell volcano, with moorbirds nesting on the property. Visitors reserve by phone. Reykjavik Golf Club's Korpa course, from 1997, has 27 holes in three nines named Sjóinn, Áin and Landið, and the club rotates the combinations daily; Hannes Thorsteinsson designed Korpa and Nils Sköld the club's Grafarholt course, and tee times go through Golfscape or by phone. Brautarholt at Kjalarnes, opened in 2012, runs along a clifftop on a rocky stretch of coast, built from Edwin Roald's routing, Michael Kelly's shaping and Tony Ristola's extension to 18 holes.
