About Kristianstads Golfklubb

Kristianstads Golfklubb in Åhus has two 18-hole courses, and the par 72 East course leads the club. It is a heathland and forest layout on sandy soil, where some holes cross open, wind-exposed ground and others weave through an old pine plantation. The turf is firm and bouncy, so the ball runs, and greens are guarded by closely mown run-off areas instead of thick rough.

  • The club was named Sweden's best golf course by the World Golf Awards in 2023 and 2024.
  • A second 18, the West course, opened in 2006 and took the club to 36 holes.
  • Maja Stark won the Creekhouse Ladies Open here in 2021.
  • On site are a driving range, pro shop, restaurant and hotel accommodation.

History of Kristianstads Golfklubb

Kristianstads Golfklubb was founded in 1924. The East course began as nine holes and grew to 18 in 1969, with Rafael Sundblom and Douglas Brasier among its architects. Pierre Fulke and Adam Mednickson renovated it in 2016, pushing the playing character toward firmer English heathland. The West course followed in 2006.

Signature holes at Kristianstads Golfklubb

Holes 14 to 16 run among trees and a winding stream, which was redesigned in the 2016 renovation.
