About George Golf Club

George Golf Club is an 18-hole par 72 in the town of George, in the heart of South Africa's Garden Route. Mature trees line the fairways, and the Outeniqua Mountains rise behind the course. It is a members' club with a traditional feel, in contrast to the resort layouts along the coast, and visitors are welcome by booking.

  • The back nine has three par 3s, three par 4s and three par 5s.
  • Bent grass greens sit within kikuyu fairways.
  • The club turns 120 in 2026, which makes it one of the oldest in the country.
  • Five sets of tees run from 4,477 to 6,166 meters, so golfers of different standards can pick a fitting length.

History of George Golf Club

George Golf Club was founded in 1906 and counts among the oldest clubs in South Africa. The course in use today was laid out by Charles Molteno Murray, who is credited with the design in 1931.
