About Fancourt — Montagu Course
The Montagu Course at Fancourt Hotel and Country Club Estate is an 18-hole, par 72 parkland course in George, on South Africa's Garden Route. Gary Player designed it, and it opened in 1991. David McLay Kidd later remodelled it, and it reopened in February 2005 after an extensive remodelling programme. The layout has mature trees, rolling fairways, strategically placed bunkers and water hazards, with ponds and streams that shape the approach shots, and the Outeniqua Mountains form the backdrop. It measures 6,714 metres from the black tees. Fancourt describes the Montagu as one of its four courses and as a parkland layout with firm, fast greens. Reviewers describe it as a more traditional test than the estate's Links course. Fancourt also has a golf academy, a driving range, a putting green and a clubhouse with a bar and restaurant. Play is arranged through the Fancourt reservations team.
