7 ranked courses in Georgia
Georgia has seven courses in this guide: six private and one resort. Augusta National Golf Club in Augusta, designed by Alister MacKenzie and Bobby Jones and opened in 1932, ranks highest in the state; there is no public play, membership is strictly by invitation, and the only way to play is as the guest of a member. Augusta Country Club in the same city is a Donald Ross course where visitors play only when accompanied by a member. Peachtree Golf Club in Atlanta is Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s design with Bobby Jones, and it has hosted the Walker Cup. Capital City Club's Crabapple Course in Milton, Tom Fazio's 2002 design, is invitation-only. Ohoopee Match Club in Cobbtown, a 2018 links by Gil Hanse with Jim Wagner, has 22 holes. The one bookable course is the Seaside Course at Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island, H.S. Colt and C.H. Alison's 1929 design redesigned by Tom Fazio in 1999; it is available to Sea Island resort guests and members of Sea Island Golf Club, with tee times booked through the resort. Ocean Forest at Sea Island, Rees Jones's 1995 coastal course, is private.
