About Al Mouj Golf
Al Mouj Golf is an 18-hole, par 72 course on the coast of Muscat, designed by Greg Norman. The links-style design runs beside about two kilometers of shoreline, with the Hajar Mountains behind, and natural dunes, bunkers and water hazards shape play. It is the first links-style course in Oman.
- Rankings place the course within the world's top 100 and consistently second best in the Middle East.
- Environmental certifications recognize the course's sustainability work.
- Troon International has managed the club since January 2024.
- The club is part of the Al Mouj Muscat development, which has beaches, shops and a 400-berth marina.
History of Al Mouj Golf
Greg Norman first visited the Muscat site in 2006 and later called Al Mouj one of the finest courses he has designed. The club began hosting professional golf with the Challenge Tour in 2013, and it staged the tour's Grand Final in three consecutive years. The Oman Open made its debut at Al Mouj in 2018, with Joost Luiten as the first champion, and it returned in 2019 and 2020.
Signature holes at Al Mouj Golf
The par-3 14th plays to an island green, one of the holes where water affects the shot. Several other holes run right beside the sea.
When to play Al Mouj Golf
Muscat summers are hot and humid, so the cooler months from late autumn through early spring are the most comfortable for a round. The sea breeze along the shoreline adds a test in any season.
