About The Scandinavian Golf Club

The Scandinavian Golf Club at Farum, close to Copenhagen, has two 18-hole courses, the Old and the New, built on about 200 hectares of hilly ground. Robert Trent Jones II designed both, with Bruce Charlton as lead architect. The ground is sand-capped and the setting is wooded, with recycled lake water used for irrigation. Water and strategic bunkering feature on both layouts, and each course has several sets of tees for different abilities. The club is guest-friendly and sells green fees to visitors.

  • Henning Larsen Architects designed the clubhouse, built from Douglas fir, slate and glass.
  • Golf Digest ranks the New Course first and the Old Course second among Danish courses.
  • The club has a guesthouse, so a golf trip can be built around a stay at the course.
  • The clubhouse holds a café and a restaurant for a meal before or after your round.

History of The Scandinavian Golf Club

The land was once the training grounds of Farum Barracks, and it was sold to golf-loving businessmen. The courses were built between 2006 and 2010. The Old Course opened in 2010, and the New Course followed in 2011.

When to play The Scandinavian Golf Club

Both courses are drained to cope with heavy rain, so a wet spell need not rule out a visit. Farum is close to Copenhagen, which makes it simple to combine with a city stay.
