About Great Northern
Great Northern is a championship course at Kerteminde on the Danish island of Funen, designed by Nicklaus Design. The course is a par 72 that plays about 6,775 meters from the back tees, and its design leans on large shaped bunkers, strategic lakes and precisely contoured greens. The fairways roll over elevated ground, and water comes into play on a number of holes. The course sits in the grounds of a resort with a hotel and spa.
- A nine-hole Academy Course sits beside the main course.
- Several sets of tees let golfers of different abilities play the same holes at a suitable length.
- The Great Northern Academy gives lessons, and a driving range and practice areas are on site.
- A clubhouse restaurant, golf shop and locker rooms round out the facilities for visitors.
History of Great Northern
Great Northern opened in 2017 and was the first course in Denmark from Nicklaus Design. It was built with top-level tournament play in mind, and the DP World Tour brought the Danish Golf Championship to Kerteminde in August 2026.
