About Sheshan International Golf Club

Sheshan International Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 72 parkland course in Songjiang, on the western side of Shanghai. The routing runs through forested hill country at the foot of Sheshan Mountain, so the round carries elevation change. Tree-lined corridors and rolling ground set the character of the property, and a deep rock quarry comes into play on the closing holes. It is counted among the best-known clubs in mainland China.

  • Streams, linked lakes and a canal bring water into play across the property.
  • Sand bunkers and well-defended greens make the approach game a central test.
  • The Buick LPGA Shanghai was relocated to Sheshan for 2026, carrying a record US$3.2 million purse.
  • A restaurant is on site.

History of Sheshan International Golf Club

Sheshan opened in 2004 with a design by Nelson & Haworth, the partnership of Robin Nelson and Neil Haworth. Tournament golf arrived almost at once. The WGC-HSBC Champions was played here in 2005, less than a year after the course opened, and it kept returning for the next decade and a half. Phil Mickelson was the champion when the event visited in 2009.

Signature holes at Sheshan International Golf Club

A deep rock quarry comes into play on both the 16th and the 17th. The 16th is a short par 4 that can be driven, played along the edge of the quarry. The 17th is a par 3 that skirts the quarry.

Playing Sheshan International Golf Club: tips
