About Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club
Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club is a links on the Kent coast beside the English Channel, at Deal. Henry Hunter laid out the first holes in the 1890s, and the routing resembles the Old Course at St Andrews: out along the shore, a loop, and back inland. The ground is crumpled and creased rather than dramatic, and the greens are contoured.
- J.H. Taylor won the Open here in 1909 and George Duncan won it in 1920.
- The Opens of 1938 and 1949 were moved to Royal St George's after abnormally high tides flooded the links.
- The Amateur Championship has been played here three times, in 1923, 1982 and 2013.
- The club is a Final Qualifying venue for the Open Championship.
