About Playa Grande Golf & Ocean Club

Playa Grande Golf & Ocean Club is a private residential community near Cabrera, on the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Its 18-hole golf course began as a Robert Trent Jones Sr. design and was later renovated by his son Rees Jones. Ten holes play directly on the ocean, which the club says is the most in the Western Hemisphere.

  • The last five holes run along the ocean, on cliffs above the water.
  • All 18 holes have a view of the ocean.
  • The course is nicknamed the Pebble Beach of the Caribbean.
  • Discovery Land Company develops and operates the community around the course.

History of Playa Grande Golf & Ocean Club

Rees Jones's renovation re-routed part of the back nine and reversed holes to open up more views of the Atlantic. The changes also made room for the Amanera resort.

The 18th is a risk-reward par 5 that plays beside the ocean, the closing hole of a round that runs along the cliffs.

The Dominican Republic's north coast is warm all year. The driest months run roughly from December to April, while summers are hotter and more humid, and hurricane season runs from June to November. Since play is by Amanera stay or member invitation, tee times follow your travel dates.
