About Philadelphia Cricket Club — Wissahickon Course
The Wissahickon Course at Philadelphia Cricket Club is an 18-hole, par 70 layout at Flourtown, Pennsylvania, designed by A.W. Tillinghast. Its difficulty comes from the land rather than from contrived hazards: rolling terrain, elevation changes, and small, undulating greens with plateaus that make pin positions hard to reach. The greens are the signature of the design.
- The 2025 Truist Championship was a one-year stand-in for Quail Hollow, which hosted the PGA Championship that year.
- Founded in 1854, Philadelphia Cricket Club calls itself the oldest country club in the United States.
- Two U.S. Opens, in 1907 and 1910, were played on the club's older St. Martins course.
- A second 18-hole course on the Flourtown site, Militia Hill, was designed by Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry.
History of Philadelphia Cricket Club — Wissahickon Course
Tillinghast's Wissahickon Course opened in 1922 after the club moved from Chestnut Hill to Flourtown. Over the decades trees crowded in and bunkering was filled in. A restoration led by Philadelphia-born architect Keith Foster began in the 2010s, removing encroaching trees that hid the vistas and complicated the greens, and rebuilding greens, tees, fairways and bunkers close to Tillinghast's original lines.

The best-known feature is the Great Hazard, a long par 5 with 13 bunkers across the fairway. It had been filled in decades earlier, and Foster excavated it to uncover the original contours.
When to play Philadelphia Cricket Club — Wissahickon Course
