About Old Course Vilamoura
Old Course Vilamoura is an 18-hole parkland course in the resort of Vilamoura, on Portugal's Algarve coast. Frank Pennink laid it out, and it opened in 1969. Mature umbrella pines line most holes, and the fairways roll gently between them. It is often called the Grande Dame of Algarve golf. The club is open to visitors and takes bookings online, and the Faro airport is about 20 minutes away by road.

History of Old Course Vilamoura
Frank Pennink opened the Old Course in 1969 as the first golf at Vilamoura, and only one other course in the Algarve was older. Martin Hawtree remodeled the layout in the 1990s. In 2024 the club carried out a further renovation, reworking bunker lips and slopes, regrassing and reorienting tees, installing a new sprinkler system and building a new clubhouse, all while keeping the original routing.
