About Mid Ocean Club
Mid Ocean Club is an 18-hole coastal course in Bermuda, laid out by Charles Blair Macdonald with his associate Seth Raynor. It is a private club. A small number of outside tee times are offered each week to golfers who arrange them in advance, which makes a round here a matter of planning rather than a walk-up booking.
- It is the only Macdonald design built outside the United States.
- Template holes in the routing include Biarritz, Redan and Cape designs.
- Visitors to the club have included U.S. presidents and British prime ministers.
- Guests of Rosewood Bermuda are offered Mid Ocean tee times through the resort.
History of Mid Ocean Club
Robert Trent Jones Sr. modernized the Macdonald and Raynor course in the 1950s.
Signature holes at Mid Ocean Club
The par-4 5th is a Cape hole and the best-known hole on the course. The 17th is a par 3 built as a Redan, another of the template types Macdonald used.
When to play Mid Ocean Club
Bermuda has a mild subtropical climate. Spring and autumn are comfortable for walking a full round, while summer is warm and humid and winter days can turn cool and breezy. Since outside tee times are limited, the date of your round will depend on availability more than on the weather.
Playing Mid Ocean Club: tips
Outside tee times are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, so build your trip around those days. Ask your host or accommodation to request a slot well ahead of arrival, and confirm the details before you travel.
