About Kilimanjaro Golf & Wildlife Estate
Kilimanjaro Golf & Wildlife Estate, known as Kiligolf, is an 18-hole par 72 course at Usa River in Tanzania's Arusha Region. It sits between Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, on an estate of 1,040 acres at about 1,400 meters above sea level. Water hazards come into play on many holes, and the layout was built to championship standard.
- The 18th finishes on an island green, a risk-and-reward shot to close the round.
- A lake runs through holes 11 to 13, so water is a theme on the back nine.
- Both the clubhouse and the driving range look toward Mount Kilimanjaro, with Mount Meru also in view.
- Zebra, wildebeest and gazelle graze the open holes, so expect plains game next to the fairways.
History of Kilimanjaro Golf & Wildlife Estate
Kiligolf was built as the first 18-hole championship course in Tanzania. David Jones, a former Irish national coach and Kenya Open champion, designed it. The estate looks out across the Maasai Steppe as well as the two mountains, and the course suits golfers who combine a round with a safari in northern Tanzania. It hosts the Sterling Invitational, where the women play 54 holes and senior golfers play 36. The 2026 edition took place in early September.
Playing Kilimanjaro Golf & Wildlife Estate: tips
