About Karen Country Club
Karen Country Club is an 18-hole parkland course in the Karen district of Nairobi, Kenya. The fairways cross part of the former coffee estate of Baroness Karen von Blixen. Dating to 1937, it ranks among the oldest golf clubs in Kenya. The course has kept the layout it has had for many years, with minimal changes since it was first laid out.
- Water hazards come into play on the 12th, 14th and 18th holes.
- Wetlands form part of the grounds alongside the fairways.
- The 57th Magical Kenya Open, a DP World Tour event, was held here from February 19 to 22, 2026.
- Off the course, the club has tennis courts, a swimming pool and a gym.
History of Karen Country Club
The club grew out of the work of a young banker named Remi Martin, who handled the purchase of the land, set up the company that built the course and oversaw the development of the surrounding real estate. The Kenya Open was played here from 2004 to 2008 and again from 2013 to 2016. The tournament returned to the property for its 57th edition in 2026, after several years at Muthaiga Golf Club.
