About Alwoodley Golf Club
Alwoodley Golf Club is an 18-hole, par 71 heathland course in north Leeds, West Yorkshire, built on part of Wigton Moor. Fairways run fast and firm, cut out of heather and gorse, and the greens are large with plenty of subtle break. Bunkers are placed to reward well-judged shots rather than simply punish poor ones. The clubhouse has a bar and restaurant, and a pro shop and driving range are on site.
- Alister MacKenzie was a founding member and served as the club's first secretary.
- Harry Colt was consulted on MacKenzie's design.
- The club hosts amateur events for men and women, including the Brabazon Trophy in 2019.
- Alwoodley is ranked among the top 100 courses in Great Britain and Ireland.
History of Alwoodley Golf Club
Alwoodley was founded in 1907 on part of Wigton Moor north of Leeds, and it was the first course Alister MacKenzie designed. The original routing remains largely unchanged today. The course is regarded as one of the best inland heathland courses in England.

When to play Alwoodley Golf Club
Visitors play by advance booking, so settle on your date early.
