About The Alotian Club

The Alotian Club is an 18-hole, par 72 course at Roland, Arkansas, in the hills around Lake Maumelle near Little Rock. Tom Fazio designed it, and it opened in 2004. Fairways are zoysia and the greens are bentgrass. The course runs through woods and hilly ground, with dramatic elevation change from the first tee shot to the final green, and the setting is wooded and enclosed rather than open.

  • The design was meant to echo Augusta National, where the founder's father, Jack Stephens, served as chairman.
  • Golf Digest has ranked the Alotian among its America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses since 2011.
  • The club hosted the Western Amateur in 2013, a rare tournament stop for a private Arkansas course.
  • The Arnold Palmer Cup, a collegiate team event, was played here in June 2019.

History of The Alotian Club

Warren Stephens built the Alotian Club, which was founded in 2004 on wooded, hilly land near Lake Maumelle. It also stages the Jack Stephens Cup, a collegiate event named for the founder's father.

When to play The Alotian Club

Because play is by invitation, the best time is whenever a member can host you. Each green has an underground system that cools or warms the bentgrass roots, which is meant to keep the putting surfaces playing consistently through the seasons, so timing matters less here than at most courses.

Playing The Alotian Club: tips
