About Tierra del Sol Golf Course

Tierra del Sol Golf Course is an 18-hole, par 71 layout of 6,811 yards at the northwest tip of Aruba, near Palm Beach. Robert Trent Jones II designed it in a desert links style, with the Caribbean Sea in view on nearly every hole. Wind is a key factor in play, so club selection matters as much as distance. The property covers about 600 acres, and the course sits below and around the California Lighthouse. Fairways are wide and the greens are large, which gives players some room to work with the breeze, though the wind still shapes most shots on the way around.

  • A pro shop, lessons, club rental and practice facilities are available for golfers who want to warm up first.
  • The renovation was guided by the GEO Foundation and brought new irrigation, restored tees and greens, and drought-resistant grass.
  • Tee times can be booked online.
  • The hotel and restaurant on site mean a round can be paired with a meal or an overnight stay.

History of Tierra del Sol Golf Course

Tierra del Sol opened in 1995, and Iberostar owns and operates the resort. The course closed in 2024 for renovation, in two phases, one in February and one in May. It reopened in November 2025 after 13 months. The work also reduced the number of bunkers.

When to play Tierra del Sol Golf Course

Aruba is warm and dry for most of the year, and the wind blows steadily across the island in every season. Early morning and late afternoon tee times are cooler on an open desert course.

Playing Tierra del Sol Golf Course: tips

Book through the online tee-time system ahead of your trip. Allow for the wind when choosing clubs, especially on holes that run toward the sea, and take a few practice swings first if you have time.
