About Golf Resort Tále
Golf Resort Tále is a mountain golf resort in the Low Tatras National Park, and its Gray Bear course is a par 71 layout of 6,296 meters. Bob Walton and Skip Malek of International Golf Course Design designed it, and it opened in 2002. Creek beds, boulders and spruce trees run through the routing, and the course is laid out for walking, with short distances between greens and the next tees. The grass is a fescue and bent mixture modeled on Scottish Open courses. Little Bear is a nine-hole academy. The resort has a driving range, a putting green, a chipping area, a golf shop and a restaurant.
- Gray Bear was the first 18-hole championship course built in Slovakia, and Tony Jacklin cut the ribbon on August 8, 2002.
- The Ladies Slovak Open, a Ladies European Tour event, has been played here since 2010.
- The EGA Challenge Trophy Boys was played at Tále in 2006.
- Little Bear is a nine-hole academy course at the resort.
History of Golf Resort Tále
Gray Bear was built in a Low Tatras valley by International Golf Course Design, with Walton and Malek as lead architects. Southern Golf Ltd. did the construction. The course was opened on August 8, 2002 by Tony Jacklin, which made it the first 18-hole championship course in Slovakia. Tournament golf followed: the EGA Challenge Trophy Boys came in 2006, and the Ladies Slovak Open began here in 2010.
When to play Golf Resort Tále
The Low Tatras valley is cooler than the Slovak lowlands, so summer is the most comfortable time to play here, with long daylight and mild temperatures at altitude. Late spring and early autumn can bring cold mornings, so pack layers. Check the resort calendar for opening dates before planning a trip.
