About St Enodoc Golf Club

St Enodoc Golf Club sits at Rock on Cornwall's north coast, beside the Camel estuary, with Padstow on the far shore. The Church course is a par 69 links of 6,557 yards, credited to James Braid, with Tom Simpson contributing to the design. Its dunes are tall, and the fairways run in waves between them. The club also runs a shorter second course, Holywell.

  • John Betjeman wrote the poem Sunday Afternoon Service at St Enodoc.
  • The church sits among the fairways and is reached across the course.
  • A 12th-century church stands beside the 10th green, and its spire rises through the dunes.
  • Caddies can be arranged in advance.

History of St Enodoc Golf Club

The church that gives the main course its name dates from the 12th century. Blown sand buried it, and it was later dug out. John Betjeman holidayed here as a child, later bought a house beside the course, and is buried in the churchyard.

Signature holes at St Enodoc Golf Club

The 6th is the Himalaya, a huge dune that blocks the view of the green. The 10th is a demanding par 4 played beside the church.
