About Noordwijkse Golfclub
Noordwijkse Golfclub is an 18-hole, par 72 links course in the dunes at Noordwijk, South Holland. Frank Pennink built the present layout, working from a design by Ken Cotton, and it opened in 1972. The routing mixes holes through the dunes with a stretch through pine forest. The North Sea wind is the constant defense.
- The Dutch Open was played here, with Stewart winning in 1991, Montgomerie in 1993, Leaney in 2000 and Langer in 2001.
- The club has a driving range, a putting green, a teaching professional and a clubhouse restaurant.
- The architects Mackenzie and Ebert later refined the course, restoring more of the dune landscape.
- Deep bunkers add to the challenge.
History of Noordwijkse Golfclub
The club opened a nine-hole links in the Noordwijk dunes in September 1915. Harry Colt added nine holes in 1928. In World War II the Germans seized the grounds in 1940, and the site was damaged as part of the Atlantic Wall. Urban expansion followed, and the club moved to a new site. Prince Claus opened the present course in 1972.
