Best Golf Courses in Wisconsin
6 ranked courses in Wisconsin
Wisconsin is the rare state where most of the ranked golf is open to visitors: five of its six courses can be booked, and four of them are links by this site's definition, firm and sandy with few trees. Whistling Straits, Pete and Alice Dye's 1998 course on the Lake Michigan shore at Sheboygan, is a resort course; Erin Hills, opened in 2006 in the town of Erin, is public; and Sand Valley, Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw's 2017 course at Nekoosa in the center of the state, is a resort course too. Beside it, The Lido recreates Charles Blair Macdonald's lost Long Island course, rebuilt by Tom Doak and opened in 2023, with limited tee times for resort guests. The oldest of the bookable five is the Links Course at Lawsonia in Green Lake, a public 1930 design by William Langford and Theodore Moreau on a former estate. The exception is Milwaukee Country Club in River Hills, a private Charles Hugh Alison parkland course from 1929 that has hosted the Walker Cup.

About Golf Courses in Wisconsin
Sand Valley and The Lido share one resort in central Wisconsin, so a single trip there covers two of the six; Lawsonia sits between them and the eastern pair, Whistling Straits and Erin Hills, toward Lake Michigan.
