Best Golf Courses in Panama

5 ranked courses in Panama

Panama has five courses in this guide, and all five are 18-hole, par 72 layouts. One is private and four are resort courses; four are parkland and one is a mountain course. Club de Golf de Panamá, the private club, sits at Cerro Viento in the San Miguelito district of Panama City, its home since 1977. It has hosted the Panama Championship every year since the event began in 2004 and staged the 2017 Latin America Amateur Championship. Three resort courses sit in the provinces of Panamá Oeste and Coclé. Vista Mar Golf & Beach Resort at San Carlos, in Panamá Oeste, is a J. Michael Poellot design inside a beach and marina development. In Coclé, Buenaventura Golf Club at Río Hato opened in 2012 as a Nicklaus Design course and hosted the first Buenaventura Classic on PGA Tour Latinoamérica in 2014; visiting golfers can reserve a tee time. Nearby at Farallón, Mantarraya Golf Club is Randall Thompson's course beside the Royal Decameron resort, open to visitors as well as resort guests. The mountain course is Lucero Golf & Country Club in the highlands above Boquete, in Chiriquí Province, another Poellot layout that began as Cielo Paraiso, with bent grass greens, five sets of tees and accommodation on the property.

About Golf Courses in Panama

Panamá Oeste and Coclé are the main trip: Vista Mar at San Carlos, then Buenaventura at Río Hato and Mantarraya at Farallón in Coclé, the latter about 90 minutes from the capital. Club de Golf de Panamá, a private club, fits the start or end of that drive; contact it ahead. Lucero in Boquete, in Chiriquí Province, is a separate highland stop with rooms at the club.
