About Big Easy Ranch — The Covey
The Covey is the 18-hole, par 72 championship course at Big Easy Ranch, a 2,000-acre sporting estate near Columbus, Texas. Chet Williams designed it, and it opened in 2023. Fairways and rough are Zeon zoysia and the greens are TifEagle. The ground rolls, with creeks running through and native trees along the holes, and whitetail deer and exotic game roam the property. Golf Digest named it the best new private course in America.
- The Eagles Nest, a two-story halfway house, stands between the ninth and tenth holes.
- The Dallas Morning News has placed it among the top courses in its Texas rankings.
- Hunting and overnight accommodation share the property with the golf.
- A lodge with dining serves members and guests on the estate.
History of Big Easy Ranch — The Covey
Big Easy Ranch's golf began with a smaller course. Chet Williams first designed the ranch's nine-hole par-3 layout, now called The Antler, and was then commissioned to build the championship course. The Covey opened in spring 2023 on the same estate.
